Meet Your Coach

overhead press

Welcome! I’m Salwa Al Bicyclechi, and my journey to becoming your fitness coach is as unique as my approach to health and wellness. Growing up in Baghdad during the 2003 war and subsequent civil unrest, exercise was my sanctuary. As a female in those challenging times, I found solace running on the roof of our home, where fitness became a vital escape for my mental well-being. After moving to Indianapolis with my family in 2009, I discovered my passion for Exercise Science at IUPUI, earning my degree from Indiana University. My career began with Whole Foods Market, where I developed a deep interest in nutrition, which later flourished in San Francisco. There, I excelled as a top trainer at a high-end corporate gym, setting records as the highest-producing female trainer in the club’s history. My commitment to continual learning led me to become a StrongFirst Elite Instructor and earn certifications in areas such as Functional Movement Systems, Precision Nutrition, and more. I also embrace various workshops like Animal Flow to stay at the forefront of fitness innovation. My philosophy is rooted in science, aiming to help you achieve not just your fitness goals but also a vibrant, fulfilling life. Let’s work together to ensure you move well, age gracefully, and live joyfully.

  • How long is each session?
Sessions typically last 60 minutes, including a warm-up, technical drills, strength training, and mobility work.
  • How many people are in a group session?
Classes are capped at 10 people to ensure individualized attention and proper coaching for each participant
  • What’s the difference between beginner and intermediate/advanced classes?
The beginner class focuses on foundational movements like squats, deadlifts, presses, and the Turkish get-up, while introducing kettlebell control. The intermediate/advanced class builds on that foundation, emphasizing ballistics (swings, cleans, and snatches) along with grinds to enhance power and endurance.
  • Do I need experience to train with you?
Not at all! I offer both beginner-friendly and advanced training programs. Whether you’re just starting or looking to refine your skills, I provide progressions tailored to your level.
  • What if I have an injury or mobility limitations?
I can modify movements and work around limitations to keep you training safely and effectively. Always consult with your doctor before starting a new exercise program.
  • What is kettlebell training, and why should I do it?
Kettlebell training builds strength, power, endurance, and mobility in a highly efficient way. It enhances full-body coordination, core stability, and athleticism while being accessible for all fitness levels.
  • How do I know if I need personal training or a small group class?
If you prefer individualized attention, have specific goals, or need to work around injuries or limitations, private training may be best. If you enjoy training in a supportive group environment, small group training is a great option.
  • How do I sign up for a class or session?
You can book a session directly through my website or contact me for availability.
  • What should I bring to a kettlebell class?
Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing, bring water, and wear flat-soled shoes (or train barefoot for better stability).
  • Do you offer one-on-one coaching?
Yes! If you prefer personalized programming tailored to your goals, I offer private training sessions.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
  • What makes your training different?
My coaching is rooted in StrongFirst principles, emphasizing technique, efficiency, and longevity in strength training. With over a decade of experience, I ensure you move well, train smart, and build real, lasting strength.
